What is Yantra Yoga

This method is very useful for everyone, no matter if you are a spiritual person or not, young or old, flexible or less flexible.

Yantra Yoga, or Yoga of Movement, is one of the oldest yoga traditions in the world, and belongs to the Tibetan tradition. It is based on the text “The Union of the Sun and the Moon”, written in the 8th century by the master and translator Vairochana.

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, one of the most important Dzogchen masters of the present time, received the teachings from his uncle, who was part of an unbroken lineage, and in the 1970s began to transmit them in Italy.

I started practicing Yantra Yoga in the 80’s with his direct disciples. The characteristic of this yoga is the combination of positions and movements with a fully conscious breathing that follows a rhythmic pattern. This allows us to coordinate and harmonize the body’s energy through the different types of breathing and breath holding, so that the mind can find its balance.

Through this practice we relax, coordinate and harmonize our energy, improve our health, gain calmness and presence, and experience in depth the true meaning of being naturally relaxed.

I was authorized to teach this profound method by Master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu himself in 2010 and since then I have taught classes and workshops in Italy, Tenerife and online.

Alessandra's Yantra Yoga classes are a true blessing. I have done Yoga before, but never focused so intensely on my breath and it turned out to be a real revelation for me and my whole practice. I was also amazed at how well the class at Zoom works and therefore how good it is to practice with so many people all over the world. Thank you Alessandra

My experience doing Yantra Yoga classes with Alessandra is very good. I am also a yoga teacher (especially for children) and I really enjoy her teachings. In Yantra Yoga I especially like that you concentrate on the breath and that you do every movement with the breath. So movement and breath are connected. My specific benefits are that I am in the moment, I focus on my breath and I can relax easily. What I appreciate about Yantra Yoga is that I can turn off my thoughts and focus on the movements and the breath. Alessandra speaks clearly and is very easy to understand. She gives very good explanations so that I can follow along very easily. I really like her calm nature! She is a very good yoga teacher with great knowledge.

I have been practicing Yoga for years and I have been fortunate to meet Alessandra and participate in her online classes during this time of confinement. The stretching movements have helped me to keep my body and muscles in shape during these months without being able to leave the house and the breathing exercises have allowed me to control my anxiety during this difficult time. When I was finally able to go for a walk, my body did not suffer because I had not lost muscle tone. I also have a tendency to suffer from cervical pain and by practicing with Alessandra the pains have improved a lot. It has been a nice experience, I will continue to participate in her classes, because it is very good for my health.
